Left fielder Robin Yount hit a homerun and scored 3 times as the Milwaukee
Brewers defeated the Texas Rangers in 13 innings 6 to 3 at County
Stadium.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Finally, Milwaukee pulled the game out in
the 13th inning. Cecil Cooper got things going when he delivered a single.
Yount came to the plate and ripped a single. Yount got a good lead and stole
second. Ben Oglivie came up and he belted a three-run homer resulting in an
exciting win for Milwaukee and a wild post-game celebration by the home town
fans. Overall Milwaukee out-hit Texas 15 to 7.
Bob Gibson(2-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Chris
Welsh(0-3) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed Milwaukee 3 runs
in 2 and 1/3 innings of work.
