Lance Parrish slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Jack Morris threw a 3
hitter at Tiger Stadium where the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals
6 to 1.
Parrish made sure the Detroit fans enjoyed themselves. He cleared the fences
for a two-run home run in the 1st inning and blasted a solo shot in the 3rd
inning. Detroit rapped out 12 hits for the night.
Morris(3-0) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. Charlie Leibrandt(0-1)
suffered the loss. He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 8 innings of work.
'He was moving it around and spotting it very well.' Dick Howser said. Morris
pitched a great game. He deserves all the credit.'

Dave Kingman blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Oakland Athletics
defeated the Minnesota Twins 11 to 9 at Oakland Co Stadium.
Kingman enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown'
in the 3rd inning and lofted a three-run bomb in the 4th inning. Minnesota
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory went to Steve McCatty(1-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Jay Howell preserved the game for McCatty, recording his his 2nd save.
Mike Smithson(2-1) was hit with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 3 and 2/3
innings of work.
