Cleveland found themselves trailing quickly as the Baltimore bats came through

In a tight game it was the Seattle Mariners 3, the Oakland Athletics 1 at
Oakland Co Stadium.
Seattle came up with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. After an out was
recorded, Alvin Davis began the Seattle spurt when he doubled. Al Cowens
followed next and he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run.
Seattle had only 6 hits for the game.
Roy Thomas(1-0) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Rick
Langford(0-1) was charged with the loss. He gave up 2 runs and 3 hits in 3
