Bob Kearney hit 2 doubles as the Seattle Mariners won at The Kingdome in
dramatic fashion over the Minnesota Twins, the final score, 4 to 3.
The game was won by Seattle when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning. Alvin Davis doubled. Kearney came next and he drew a walk. Spike
Owen then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jack Perconte followed and he lined a
one-base hit resulting in an exciting win for Seattle and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Seattle totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Ed Nunez(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and 2/3
innings. Pete Filson(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 2 and
1/3 innings giving up 4 hits and 1 walk.

Mike Boddicker tossed a complete game at Memorial Stadium as the Baltimore
Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays by the count of 3 to 2.
Baltimore scored 2 runs in the decisive 4th inning. The key at-bat was by
Fred Lynn who made the crowd happy when he lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run. After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.
Boddicker(1-1), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Dave
Stieb(0-2) was charged with the loss. 'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll
take the win' Boddicker said.

In an embarrassing outing for the Cincinnati Reds pitching staff, New York
(NL) Mets flexed their collective muscle amassing 14 runs as Rick
Aguilera(1-0), with relief help from Tom Gorman, surrendered 3 runs to
Cincinnati.
New York (NL) set the tone of the game in the first inning showing no mercy on
Cincinnati as they plated 10 runs on 7 hits. That was all the runs Aguilera
needed. New York (NL) had 16 hits for the game and Cincinnati had 11.
