Right fielder Reggie Jackson rocketed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Oakland
Coliseum where the Oakland Athletics beat the Baltimore Orioles by the score
of 12 to 9.
Jackson provided much of the offense. He rifled a three-run blast in the 1st
inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 3rd inning and lined a
single in the 5th inning. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th
inning with no runs scored after that point.
The win went to Rollie Fingers(1-0) who allowed no runs in 4 innings. Jim
Palmer(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and

San Francisco was unable to climb back into it after Pittsburgh went ahead for
