Right fielder Pete Rose smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Jim Maloney had a
strong outing as the Cincinnati Reds outscored the Los Angeles Dodgers 10 to
1.
Rose punished Los Angeles with his bat. He smashed a solo-shot out of the
park in the 1st inning, ripped a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, lofted a
three-run bomb in the 4th inning, laced a base-hit in the 6th inning and
stroked a base-hit in the 7th inning. Cincinnati kept the pressure on
throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
Maloney(17-11) allowed 1 run on the game. The losing pitcher was Bill
Singer(19-15). He surrended 3 homeruns in his 7 innings.
Rose was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball
real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying off.

The California Angels toppled the Seattle Pilots by a 5 to 1 score at Anaheim
Stadium.
California scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning with the help of 3
hits. They ended up being the winning runs. California out-hit Seattle for
the game, 9 hits to 3.
The win went to Jim McGlothlin(6-17) who allowed 1 run in 6 innings. Hoyt
Wilhelm preserved the game for McGlothlin, recording his his 2nd save. The
