Ike Brown cracked a homer and had 3 RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated the
Boston Red Sox in 13 innings by the score of 7 to 4 at Tiger Stadium.
The score was tied at 4 after nine. Detroit won it in the 13th inning. Jim
Northrup led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Dick McAuliffe was
next and he singled. Two outs later Brown stepped in and he lost the ball
over the fence for three runs giving Detroit the win and sending the home
town fans into a frenzy. Detroit ended up with 15 hits for the game while
Boston had 12.
Tom Timmermann(4-2) allowed no runs in 4 innings, and picked up the victory.
Bill Lee(1-3) was the loser in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 3 hits in 1 and
2/3 innings.

In a good matchup it was the Chicago (AL) White Sox 5, the Kansas City Royals
3 at Municipal Stadium.
Chicago (AL) won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs. Don
Pavletich led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. After an out was
recorded, Luis Aparicio came to bat and drew a walk. After another out, Gail
Hopkins then reached on an error bringing in two baserunners. Wilbur Wood
was perfect in relief and got the save, his 25th.
The win went to Dan Osinski(12-3) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Jim Rooker(13-11) took the loss in relief. He was the victim of a defensive
lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.

Dick Bosman went the distance and third baseman Ken McMullen touched them all
and had 2 RBI as the Washington Senators defeated the dreadful Cleveland
Indians by a score of 8 to 2 at Municipal Stadium.
Washington took the lead for good in the 2nd inning scoring 2 runners on 3
hits. Washington and Cleveland each finished the afternoon with 10 hits.
Bosman(19-9) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Mike Paul(9-14)
was given the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7 innings.
Washington now has a record of 89-63. With the loss, Cleveland has a record
of 3-7 lately, 62-90, worst in the division overall.
