The score was tied at 4 after nine. Detroit won it in the 13th inning. Jim Northrup led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Dick McAuliffe was next and he singled. Two outs later Brown stepped in and he lost the ball over the fence for three runs giving Detroit the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Detroit ended up with 15 hits for the game while Boston had 12. Tom Timmermann(4-2) allowed no runs in 4 innings, and picked up the victory. Bill Lee(1-3) was the loser in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 3 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
