Peterson(19-13) was very good in the win. He was stingy on the mound,

complete game at Crosley Field where the San Francisco Giants beat the
Cincinnati Reds by the score of 4 to 3.

Johnny Edwards had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Houston Astros pulled out a
win over the pathetic San Diego Padres by a score of 7 to 6 at The
Astrodome.
Houston won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Norm Miller
lashed a single. Denis Menke stepped into the batter's box and he delivered
a single. After an out was recorded, Curt Blefary was walked intentionally
to load the bases. Edwards followed next and he singled resulting in an
exciting win for Houston and a wild post-game celebration by the home town
fans. Both teams finished the game with 11 hits.
The win was credited to Jack Billingham(10-5) who went 1/3 of an inning
allowing no runs. Frank Reberger(3-3) took the loss in relief. He pitched
1/3 of an inning allowing 2 hits and 1 walk.
Wth the win Houston now has a record of 68-71. San Diego has a record of
53-88, worst in the division after the loss.
