Frank Robinson had 2 base hits as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Detroit
Tigers by a score of 8 to 6.
Baltimore wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
tallied 3 runs on 2 hits. Detroit had a chance to come back in the 9th but
they came up short.
The victory went to Jim Palmer(19-9) who went 8 innings, allowing 6 runs.
Palmer got relief help from Dick Hall who gained credit for his 6th save.
Mike Kilkenny(16-11) was the losing pitcher. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.
'Some losses are harder to take than others' Mayo Smith lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'

Oakland Coliseum.
Dave Boswell(16-14) pitched well for Minnesota in their victory. He

In a close game the California Angels got by the Chicago (AL) White Sox in 12
innings by the score of 5 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. California won the
game in the 12th inning. Ruben Amaro led off and keyed the rally when he
ripped a one-base hit. Aurelio Rodriguez stepped up to the plate and he
cracked a two-run shot making California victorious to the delight of the the
home town crowd. California finished with 7 hits in the victory.
The win went to Ken Tatum(3-1) who allowed no runs in 4 innings. Jerry
Nyman(6-8) suffered the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a batter
allowing 2 hits and no walks.
