Lee Stange completed the game without help from the bullpen and Rico
Petrocelli blasted a homerun and had 4 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated the
struggling Minnesota Twins 10 to 4 at Metropolitan Stadium.
Petrocelli provided the offensive punch. He delivered a base-hit in the 2nd
inning, hit a single resulting in a run in the 5th inning and belted a
three-run homer in the 7th inning. Boston rapped out 14 hits for the
afternoon.
Stange(13-4) allowed 4 runs on the game. Bob Miller(9-10) ended up with the
loss. He gave up 7 runs in 6 innings of work.

Right fielder Ken Harrelson connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI as the
Cleveland Indians outscored the Chicago (AL) White Sox 11 to 5.
Harrelson was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine
day at their team's expense. He tripled scoring a run in the 4th inning and
popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning. Cleveland had 13
hits for the afternoon.
The victory was credited to Luis Tiant(5-10) who went 7 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Gary Peters(9-9) suffered the loss. He was not very
effective, surrendering 7 runs in 3 innings.

Jim Nash shut down the Washington batters on just 1 hit at R.F.K. Stadium as
the Oakland Athletics beat the Washington Senators by the count of 3 to
0.
Nash(10-7) was simply too much for the Washington batters. He surrendered
only 1 hit and 2 walks in 9 innings. Oakland managed 10 hits in their
victory.
The losing pitcher was Casey Cox(12-8). He gave up 3 runs and 8 hits in 7 and
1/3 innings. 'All of my pitches were working today,' Nash said. 'I felt
really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone longer.'
