California never recovered after Baltimore took the lead in the 2nd inning plating one baserunner. Baltimore had 14 hits overall, while California had 8. Marcelino Lopez(10-10) got the win allowing 1 run in 6 and 2/3 innings. Jim Hardin recorded his 2nd save. Rudy May(7-12) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 6 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 walk. 'We really needed this win' said Earl Weaver. 'That first drink of water at the end of a drought sure does taste good!'
