Bill Hands had a complete game at San Diego Stadium as the Chicago (NL) Cubs
beat the awful San Diego Padres 10 to 3.
Chicago (NL) went ahead for good in the 7th inning plating 2 runs using 2
hits. After an out was recorded, Ernie Banks began the Chicago (NL) spurt
when he drew a walk. Randy Hundley came next and he smacked a single. Al
Spangler then doubled knocking in a run. After another out, Clay Kirby was
wild with a pitch scoring the final run of the inning. Chicago (NL) rapped
out 11 hits for the night.
The victory was credited to Hands(18-8) who went the distance, allowing 3
runs. Kirby(6-14) absorbed the loss. He allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in 6 and
2/3 innings.

Nelson Briles went the distance as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los
Angeles Dodgers 3 to 1 at Dodger Stadium.
St. Louis scored 2 runs in the decisive top of the 2nd inning with the help of
