Win:Culp(9-14) Loss:Meyer(7-3)
Homeruns- D.Simpson(4th), R.Petrocelli-2(23rd), R.Culp(1st)
Ray Culp racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and Rico Petrocelli
smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Seattle
Pilots by the score of 10 to 2 at Fenway Park.
Petrocelli provided much of the offense. He blasted a two-run home run in the
4th inning and rifled a three-run blast in the 5th inning. Boston banged out
12 hits on the night.
The win was credited to Culp(9-14) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs. Bob
Meyer(7-3) was given the loss. Boston scored big getting 6 runs off him in 4
and 2/3 innings.
When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Culp offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it
would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
