Rick Reichardt slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the California Angels came
back to win one over Washington Senators, 4 to 2.
California erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
plating 3 runs on 2 hits. Sandy Alomar got things going when he drew a walk.
After an out was recorded, Jim Fregosi came to bat and delivered a base-hit.
Reichardt then rifled a three-run blast giving California the win and
sending the home town fans into a frenzy. California ended up with 12 hits
for the game while Washington had 8.
Hoyt Wilhelm(9-6) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 inning. The loss
was charged to Bob Humphreys(5-4) in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 2
hits in 1 and 1/3 innings.

Catcher Johnny Edwards went yard and had 3 RBI as the Houston Astros defeated
the Montreal Expos by the score of 7 to 2 at Jarry Park.
Montreal never recovered after Houston took the lead in the 6th inning plating
2 runs using 2 hits. Doug Rader led off and started the rally when he was
hit by a pitch. Curt Blefary stepped up to the plate and he hit a single.
Edwards was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Jim Ray was up next
and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Joe Morgan came up to bat and was walked
intentionally to load the bases. Jesus Alou extended the rally and doubled
knocking home two runners. Overall Houston out-hit Montreal 10 to 7.
Ray(1-5) got the win allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Jerry Robertson(6-13)
absorbed the loss. Wth the win Houston now has a record of 49-56. With this
loss, Montreal has a 3-7 record of late, 32-73, worst in the division
overall.
