Dave McNally completed the game without help from the bullpen as the amazing
Baltimore Orioles defeated the reeling Kansas City Royals by a score of 7 to
2 at Municipal Stadium.
Baltimore won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning plating 2
runs. Paul Blair led off and he reached on an error. After an out was
recorded, Boog Powell came to bat and clubbed a two-run home run. Despite
losing, Kansas City out-hit Baltimore 10 to 6.
McNally(15-6) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Jim
Rooker(9-8) absorbed the loss. He pitched 8 and 2/3 innings and surrendered
5 hits and 6 walks.

In an great finish the California Angels won in dramatic fashion over the
Boston Red Sox by a score of 3 to 2 at Anaheim Stadium.
California scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning scoring
2 runs. Joe Azcue led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. After
an out was recorded, Johnson then stole second base. One out later, Tom Egan
then popped a two-run clout over the fence giving California the victory and
sending the 9,263 home-town fans home happy. California had a total of 7
hits for the game.
The win went to Steve Kealey(1-6) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Mike
Nagy(8-12) suffered the loss. 'That was exciting!,' Kealey said. 'I would
have paid money to watch this one.'

Second baseman Bobby Knoop blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI at Municipal
Stadium where the Chicago (AL) White Sox beat the Cleveland Indians in 10
innings 7 to 3.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Chicago (AL) was
victorious in the 10th inning. The biggest moment was provided by Bill
Melton who silenced the crowd when he blasted a two-run home run. Both teams
finished the game with 10 hits.
Jerry Nyman(6-6) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Horacio Pina(2-5) was hit with the loss in relief. He surrendered 4 runs in
1 inning and saw his ERA increase from 2.75 to 3.34.
