Win:Peters(6-5) Loss:Nelson(10-6)
Homeruns- B.Melton-2(13th), G.Peters(1st)
Bill Melton knocked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Gary Peters didn't allow a
hit until the 6th inning at Municipal Stadium as the Chicago (AL) White Sox
beat the Kansas City Royals by the count of 9 to 1.
Melton was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He belted a three-run homer in the 1st
inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 5th inning.
Chicago (AL) finished with 13 hits in the victory.
Peters(6-5) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. The left-handed
Peters had his no-hit bid broken up by Jerry Adair who singled with nobody
out in the 6th inning. The loss was charged to Roger Nelson(10-6). He
allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
'I've been working on a few things in my delivery, and I think I'm hitting a
good groove.' Peters said after the game. 'I'm ready to start another game
tomorrow!'
