Mike Cuellar completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Baltimore
Orioles defeated the slumping Detroit Tigers by a score of 7 to 3 at Tiger
Stadium.
Cuellar(13-7) was solid in the win. He allowed only 4 hits and 3 walks in 9
innings and was touched for 2 homeruns. Baltimore banged out 14 hits on the
afternoon.
Earl Wilson(5-8) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 11 hits and 1 walk in

1.
Chicago (AL) jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating an
isolated run. The California batters didn't put up a fight in the 9th.
The win went to Peters(5-5) who allowed 1 run in the game. Jim McGlothlin(3-9)
absorbed the loss. Wth the win Chicago (AL) now has a record of 42-39. With

Right fielder Reggie Jackson left the yard and had 3 RBI as the Oakland
Athletics beat the Minnesota Twins by a score of 12 to 8.
Oakland brought 7 runs across the plate in the top of the 6th inning when they
came up with 7 base hits. The key at-bat was by Bert Campaneris who silenced
the stadium when he stroked a single bringing in two baserunners. Oakland
and Minnesota each finished the afternoon with 15 hits.
The win went to Catfish Hunter(7-9) who allowed 5 runs in 8 innings. Jim

Dick Bosman came through with a solid 9 innings as the Washington Senators
defeated the Boston Red Sox 3 to 0 at Fenway Park.
Boston found themselves trailing quickly as the Washington bats came through
in the first inning scoring a single run using 3 hits. That scoring would be
all that was needed. Washington finished with 8 hits in the victory.
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Bosman(9-6). Ray Culp(5-12) ended up
with the loss. Washington now has a record of 49-37. With the loss, Boston
