Yankee Stadium as the New York (AL) Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles by the

Kekich(2-9) was very good in the win. He surrendered only 4 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 5.09 to 4.72. New York (AL) had 7 hits
for the night.
Mike Cuellar(12-7) ended up with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 6 hits in 7
innings. 'Kekich pitched a gem of a game', Earl Weaver recounted. 'He kept

complete game and Ed Kirkpatrick connected with a 'big fly' and had 4 RBI at
Municipal Stadium as the Kansas City Royals beat the California Angels 9 to
1.
California was unable to claim the lead after Kansas City went ahead in the
6th inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. Kansas City managed 11 hits
in their victory.
Nelson(10-4) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Jim
McGlothlin(3-8) suffered the loss. He was the victim of a defensive lapse
and did not allow an earned run in the game.

Ray Culp was on top of his game, blanking Detroit on just 2 hits as the Boston
Red Sox bested the Detroit Tigers 9 to 0 at Tiger Stadium.

Jim Perry had a complete game as the Minnesota Twins topped the Chicago (AL)
White Sox by a score of 4 to 1 at Comiskey Park.
Minnesota scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning when they came up with 3
base hits. Cesar Tovar jump-started the scoring when he cracked a solo
homerun. After an out was recorded, Harmon Killebrew stepped up to the plate
and he ripped a base-knock. Tony Oliva then lashed a single, and an error
was also committed. Jack Hamilton then threw one that got by the catcher for
a passed ball scoring another run. Bob Allison came up to bat and hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. Minnesota banged out 11
hits on the night.
Perry(11-6) allowed 1 run on the game. Gary Peters(4-5) took the loss. He was
touched for 9 hits and 5 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
