Harmon Killebrew homered and had 2 RBI as the Minnesota Twins topped the
Kansas City Royals by a score of 4 to 2 at Municipal Stadium.
Minnesota promptly took the lead in their half of the first with 3 runs on 3
base hits. After an out was recorded, Rod Carew got things going when he
laced a base-hit, and an error was also committed. Tony Oliva stepped up to
the plate and he doubled knocking in a run. Killebrew then cracked a two-run
shot. That was all the offense they were to need. The Kansas City offense
proved no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.
The victory went to Jim Perry(10-6) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. Al
Worthington got the save, his 5th. Mike Hedlund(5-3) absorbed the loss.
