Paul Blair connected with a 'big fly' as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the
Cleveland Indians by a score of 3 to 2 at Municipal Stadium.
Cleveland was unable to claim the lead after Baltimore went ahead in the top
of the 5th inning scoring a single run. Cleveland threatened in the 9th but
Baltimore was able to put down the rally.
Dave Leonhard(5-2) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Eddie
Watt gained credit for his 2nd save. Mike Paul(5-8) was charged with the
loss.
Baltimore now has a record of a division leading 43-26. With the loss,
Cleveland has a record of 4-6 lately, 28-39 overall.

Third baseman Harmon Killebrew knocked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the
Minnesota Twins defeated the Oakland Athletics by the score of 7 to 2 at
Oakland Coliseum.
Killebrew had a good day at the plate. He clubbed a two-run home run in the
1st inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 7th inning.
Minnesota had 9 hits for the afternoon while Oakland had 6.
The victory went to Dave Boswell(9-7) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. Al

The Washington Senators got by the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium. The final
score was 4 to 2.
Washington had the game winning rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 2
runs using 2 hits. Ed Stroud opened up the inning nicely when he slapped a
one-base hit. Two outs later Frank Howard came up and he drew a walk. Mike
Epstein then was hit by a pitch. Ken McMullen followed and he doubled
bringing in two baserunners. Detroit was out-hit by Washington, 7 hits to 3.
The victory was credited to Cisco Carlos(2-0) who went 1/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Dennis Higgins was credited with his 8th save. Denny
McLain(8-7) was tagged with the loss.
