what he started and was credited with a complete game at Crosley Field as the

One run was the difference at Sicks Stadium as the Seattle Pilots broke out of
their 5 game losing streak and defeated the Kansas City Royals 5 to 4.
Mike Marshall(1-1) was dominant in relief. He was flawless in relief in his 2
and 1/3 innings. Kansas City had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Jim Bouton preserved the game for Marshall, recording his his 10th save. Mike
Hedlund(5-2) absorbed the loss. 'We really needed this win' said Joe
Schultz. 'That first drink of water at the end of a drought sure does taste
good!'

First baseman Don Mincher cracked a homer as the Seattle Pilots beat the
Kansas City Royals in 11 innings by a score of 2 to 1.
The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings. Seattle came out on top in the
11th inning. Mincher lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' resulting in a mighty
exciting win for Seattle and the 15,358 home town fans in attendance.
Seattle ended up with 8 hits for the game while Kansas City had 5.
John O'Donoghue(3-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 innings. Roger
Nelson(8-4) suffered the loss. He gave up only 8 hits and no walks in 10
