Rick Reichardt had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the California Angels topped the
Minnesota Twins by a score of 6 to 1 at Metropolitan Stadium.
The game was decided in the top of the 8th inning. After two outs Reichardt
laced a one-base hit. Bill Voss came to the plate and ripped a base-knock.
Aurelio Rodriguez then lashed a single scoring the run. Minnesota was
out-hit by California, 12 hits to 9.
Hoyt Wilhelm(5-4) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Jim Perry(8-6)
took the loss. With this win, California has a 21-41 record. They have been

Casey Cox(8-2) and Dave McNally(10-3) treated the Washington fans to a fine
pitching duel at R.F.K. Stadium. The Washington Senators eventually emerged
as victors over the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 3 to 0.
Washington scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning when they had 3 base
hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Both teams' bats went to
sleep after the 4th inning with no runs scored after that point.

Sonny Siebert completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Boston
Red Sox crushed the Cleveland Indians 12 to 2.
Boston wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning as they scored 2
runs on 2 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Reggie Smith who
deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he delivered a base-hit which was
good for two runs. Boston had a total of 12 hits for the game.
The win was credited to Siebert(7-5) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
Mike Paul(5-7) was the loser. He surrendered 6 runs and 4 hits in 1 and 2/3
innings.

The New York (AL) Yankees nipped the Detroit Tigers in 12 innings 3 to 2 at
Yankee Stadium in a hard fought contest.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. New York (AL) won the game in the 12th
inning. After an out was recorded, Joe Pepitone drew a walk. Frank
Fernandez struck out, unable to help the rally. Ron Woods then stroked a
base-hit. Bobby Cox followed next and he ripped a one-base hit to load the
bases. Jimmie Hall stepped into the box and drew a walk making New York (AL)
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. New York (AL) rapped
out 10 hits for the night.
The win was credited to Lindy McDaniel(4-6) who went 1 inning allowing no
runs. The losing pitcher was Tom Timmermann(1-1) in relief.
