| BOSTON AT CLEVELAND
Red Sox......... 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 - 2 13 1
Indians......... 0 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 - 4 12 0
Win:Ellsworth(2-1) Loss:Lonborg(1-6) Save:Pina(3rd)
Third baseman Lou Klimchock collected 2 extra-base hits and scored 3 times as
the Cleveland Indians topped the Boston Red Sox by a score of 4 to 2 at
Municipal Stadium.
Dick Ellsworth(2-1) was solid if not spectacular. He went 7 and 1/3 innings
and surrended up 11 hits and 3 walks lowering his ERA to 4.26. Boston
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Ellsworth got relief help from Horacio Pina who gained credit for his 3rd
save. Jim Lonborg(1-6) was charged with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 11
hits in 6 innings.
Dick Williams was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'
