In an exciting finish the Chicago (AL) White Sox pulled out a win over the
Baltimore Orioles by a score of 6 to 5 at Comiskey Park.
Chicago (AL) won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Don
Pavletich hit a single. Bobby Knoop followed next and he drew a walk. Ken
Berry dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Ron Hansen stepped
in and he banged out a single giving Chicago (AL) the victory and sending the
8,141 home-town fans home happy. It was roller coaster of a game as the lead
change hands 5 times.
The win was credited to Jerry Nyman(3-3) who went 2 innings allowing 1 run.
Dave McNally(10-2) was given the loss. Chicago (AL) now has a record of

Ken McMullen slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Washington Senators bested
the California Angels in 12 innings 6 to 5 at R.F.K. Stadium.
The score was tied at 5 after nine. Finally, Washington prevailed in the 12th
inning. Ed Stroud drew a walk. Bob Priddy then threw a pitch that got away
from the catcher. Paul Casanova then stroked a one-base hit giving
Washington the win as 28,485 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Washington
banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.
Bob Humphreys(4-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 4 and 2/3
innings. Priddy(2-2) was tagged with the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck
loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
The Washington ballclub's record now stands at 37-28. With the loss,
California has a record of 3-7 lately, 19-39, worst in the division overall.
