single. Harmon Killebrew then clubbed a three-run home run. Cleveland had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The win went to Bob Miller(4-5) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. Ron
Perranoski earned his 8th save. Sam McDowell(8-8) suffered the loss. While
he was the losing pitcher, he still struck out 11 batters in 7 and 1/3

Alvin Dark was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of
loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've
been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine -
as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
