Rich Reese collected 2 extra-base hits and had 2 RBI and Jerry Crider pitched
5 and one third strong innings as the Minnesota Twins topped the Boston Red
Sox by a score of 8 to 7 at Metropolitan Stadium.
Crider(2-0) came through for Billy Martin with an excellent relief stint. He
surrendered only 1 hit and no walks in 5 and 1/3 innings lowering his ERA to
1.30. The Boston bats were silent in the 9th.
Ron Perranoski recorded the save, his 7th. Vicente Romo(3-3) suffered the
loss in relief. He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 2 innings.

The New York (AL) Yankees bested the Kansas City Royals in 12 innings by a 7
to 4 score at Yankee Stadium.
The score was tied at 4 after nine. New York (AL) won the hard fought contest
in the 12th inning. Roy White kicked off the action when he lined a
base-hit. Joe Pepitone stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk.
Jimmie Hall then rifled a three-run blast making New York (AL) the winners
