Win:Fingers(3-3) Loss:Wilson(3-4)
Homeruns- N.Cash(8th), D.Duncan(1st)
In a thriller the Oakland Athletics staged a dramatic comeback over the
Detroit Tigers winning by a score of 6 to 3 at Oakland Coliseum.
Oakland had the game winning rally in the 9th inning when they came up with 4
runs on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Dave Duncan who
electrified Oakland Coliseum when he clubbed a three-run home run. Oakland
finished with just 6 hits in the victory.
Rollie Fingers(3-3) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Earl
Wilson(3-4) was hit with the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 8 and
2/3 innings.
Fingers and Ted Kubiak were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the
great come from behind victory. As Hank Bauer noted, 'A win like this one
can do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans,
the players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
