It was a laugher out at Tiger Stadium. The Detroit Tigers squad ripped
California pitching for a total of 12 runs. Earl Wilson(3-3), with relief
help from Pat Dobson, allowed California 4 runs.
California found themselves trailing quickly as the Detroit bats came through
in the first inning when they came up with 3 runs on 0 hits. Detroit ended
up with 16 hits for the game while California had 11.
Rudy May(2-5) absorbed the loss. He gave up 5 runs in 2 innings of work.

Lee Stange tossed a complete game at Comiskey Park where the Boston Red Sox
beat the Chicago (AL) White Sox 4 to 2.
Stange(5-1) had a solid outing for Boston. He allowed 8 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings lowering his ERA to 3.46. Boston rapped out 12 hits for the night.
Gary Peters(1-3) was the loser. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 4

Left fielder Frank Howard blasted 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Washington
Senators crushed the Kansas City Royals 15 to 1.
Howard punished Kansas City with his bat. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in
the 1st inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 6th inning. Washington
bats were very productive in the 6th inning which saw them score 4 runs on 4
hits and the 8th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 4 hits. Washington
had 16 hits overall, while Kansas City had 8.

Dick Green had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Memorial Stadium where the Oakland
Athletics beat the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 9 to 7.
Green provided the offensive punch. He lined a base-hit bringing in a run in
the 2nd inning, doubled scoring a run in the 4th inning, delivered a single
in the 7th inning and doubled scoring two baserunners in the 8th inning.
Baltimore had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The winning pitcher was Catfish Hunter(4-4) who allowed 7 runs in 8 and 2/3
innings. Rollie Fingers earned his 3rd save. Marcelino Lopez(2-3) ended up
