In the bottom of the 6th inning Cleveland went on top for good with 3 runs using 2 hits. Eddie Leon opened up the inning nicely when he banged out a single. Vern Fuller followed next and he ripped a single. Tiant then reached on an error which brought home a run. Jose Cardenal followed and he drew a walk to load the bases. Larry Brown dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. One out later, Tony Horton came to bat and reached on an error with two more runners crossing home. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. Tiant(2-4) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Steve Barber(4-4) was the loser. He allowed 10 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings.
