Boston scored the winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs using 2 hits. George Scott led off and he drew a walk. Tom Satriano next to the plate and he doubled driving in a run. Ken Tatum then had one get away for a wild pitch. Joe Lahoud followed and he drew a walk. Mike Andrews came to the plate and lined a one-base hit making Boston the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Both teams ended up with 8 hits on the night. The win was credited to Vicente Romo(3-2) who went 2 innings allowing no runs. The loss was charged to Tatum(0-1) in relief. Dick Williams was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Lefty Phillips, feels right now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of these!'
