Minnesota was unable to recover after Detroit went ahead in the 5th inning

McDowell(6-4) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Oakland offense. He
was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings
dropping his ERA from 2.76 to 2.46. Cleveland rapped out 11 hits for the
night.
Jim Nash(3-3) suffered the loss. The Cleveland fans were thrilled by the
performance put forth by McDowell, but it was clearly his strikeouts that
they enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their
