Mickey Lolich had an impressive outing as the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago
(AL) White Sox by a score of 4 to 1.
Detroit went ahead for good in the bottom of the 4th inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Norm Cash began the
Detroit spurt when he drew a walk. Willie Horton came next and he ripped a
one-base hit. One out later, Don Wert then doubled, and an error was also
committed, plating two runs. The Chicago (AL) bats were silent in the 9th.
Lolich(4-4) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Gary
Peters(1-2) was tagged with the loss. Detroit continued their winnings ways
improving their record to 19-14. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. With
this loss, Chicago (AL) has a 4-6 record of late, 12-16 overall.

drew a walk. Jerry Adair stepped up next and he singled. Ellie Rodriguez
then hit a deep fly scoring the run. Cleveland was set down quietly in the
9th.
Hedlund(5-1) was credited with the shutout. The losing pitcher was Mike
Paul(3-3). He surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.
