Win:Kirby(2-4) Loss:Holtzman(3-4) Save:Sisk(1st)
Homeruns- E.Spiezio(3rd)
Clay Kirby(2-4) and Ken Holtzman(3-4) dueled it out with Kirby and the San
Diego Padres coming out on top of the Chicago (NL) Cubs by the score of 2 to
0.
Chicago (NL) never recovered after San Diego took the lead in the top of the
2nd inning plating one baserunner on 3 hits. That early run support was
enough for Kirby and San Diego. Chicago (NL) made it exciting in the 9th,
but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Tommie Sisk earned the save, his 1st.

HOUSTON AT MONTREAL
Astros.......... 0 3 0 0 0 4 0 0 0 - 7 7 0
Expos........... 0 1 1 0 0 1 1 0 1 - 5 12 3
Win:Lemaster(3-6) Loss:Robertson(3-4)
Homeruns- B.Bailey(1st), J.Herrera(1st)
Denny Lemaster went the distance as the Houston Astros defeated the Montreal
Expos 7 to 5 at Jarry Park.
Lemaster(3-6) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He was
reached for 12 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings and surrendered 2
'round-trippers'. Montreal was not lacking for run support as they scored in
5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that
pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
The losing pitcher was Jerry Robertson(3-4). He gave up 7 runs in 5 and 2/3
innings of work. 'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for
us' said Harry Walker, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.'
