Paul Blair cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the sizzling Baltimore Orioles
defeated the Minnesota Twins by a score of 5 to 3 at Metropolitan
Stadium.
Blair provided the offensive punch. He cracked a two-run shot in the 6th
inning and blasted a two-run home run in the 8th inning. Minnesota tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Marcelino Lopez(2-2) got the win allowing 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Lopez
got relief help from Dick Hall who gained credit for his 2nd save. Jim
Perry(4-3) was tagged with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7 and
2/3 innings.
With the win, Baltimore continued their winning ways; their streak now stands
at 8 games and counting.

Second baseman Ike Brown cracked a homer at Tiger Stadium as the Detroit
Tigers beat the Chicago (AL) White Sox in 14 innings 3 to 2.
Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. Detroit won the hard
fought contest in the 14th inning. After an out was recorded, Don Wert
banged out a single. Brown stepped into the batter's box and he doubled.
Gates Brown then delivered a single giving Detroit the victory and sending
the 33,513 home-town fans home happy. Chicago (AL) out-hit Detroit 15 to 10,
but Detroit ended up with more runs.
Fred Lasher(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. The
loss was charged to Gary Bell(0-1) in relief. He allowed 1 run and 3 hits in
1/3 of an inning.
