In a thriller the Cleveland Indians staged a dramatic comeback then held on to
win over the Washington Senators by a score of 6 to 4 at R.F.K.
Stadium.
Cleveland promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 2 runs on
2 hits. After two were out Ken Harrelson began the Cleveland spurt when he
ripped a solo home run. Tony Horton followed next and he delivered a solo
blast. Cleveland and Washington each finished the night with 7 hits.
The victory went to Sam McDowell(4-2) who went 8 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4
runs. Dick Ellsworth earned his 1st save. Jim Shellenback(2-3) was hit with
the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7 innings.
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' McDowell said.
