Earl Wilson allowed Mayo Smith to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as
the Detroit Tigers topped the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 4 to 3 at Tiger
Stadium.
Wilson(2-2) had a solid outing for Detroit. He went 9 innings and surrended
up 7 hits and 2 walks dropping his ERA from 3.91 to 3.38. Both teams' bats
went to sleep after the 4th inning with no runs scored after that point.
Jim Palmer(2-3) took the loss. Detroit now has a record of 11-10. With the
loss, the Baltimore ballclub's record is 16-9.

Casey Cox had a strong outing as the Washington Senators defeated the Boston
Red Sox by the score of 10 to 1 at R.F.K. Stadium.
Cox(4-0) looked very much in control throughout the night. He didn't give up
much, just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 2.51 to
2.15. Washington totaled 9 hits on the night.
Mike Nagy(2-3) was the losing pitcher. Washington knocked him around a bit,
as he gave up 6 runs in 5 innings. 'I've been working on a few things in my
delivery, and I think I'm hitting a good groove.' Cox said after the game.

Cleveland took the lead for good in the top of the 6th inning plating an
