In a good matchup it was the Cleveland Indians 5, the Baltimore Orioles 3 at
Municipal Stadium.
In the bottom of the 2nd inning Cleveland went on top for good plating one
baserunner utilizing 2 base hits. Baltimore could do no damage in the 9th.
The win was credited to Mike Paul(2-2) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3
runs. Paul got help from Stan Williams who earned his 1st save. Dave
Leonhard(1-2) suffered the loss.

Lee Stange pitched a complete game as the Boston Red Sox defeated the New York
(AL) Yankees 5 to 4 at Yankee Stadium.
Carl Yastrzemski had a big day against New York (AL). He doubled bringing in
two baserunners in the 3rd inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 5th
inning. New York (AL) had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Stange(4-0) finished the game allowing 4 runs in the victory. Mel
Stottlemyre(2-3) was charged with the loss. He allowed 5 runs and 8 hits in
9 innings.

the distance as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Washington Senators by a
score of 8 to 3 at Tiger Stadium.
Washington was unable to recover after Detroit went ahead in the bottom of the
3rd inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. That early scoring held up.
