Sonny Siebert mowed down 10 Detroit batters and Rico Petrocelli cracked 2
homeruns and had 4 RBI at Tiger Stadium where the Boston Red Sox beat the
Detroit Tigers 12 to 4.
Petrocelli had a big day against Detroit. He lofted a three-run bomb in the
1st inning and cracked a solo homerun in the 7th inning. Boston had 15 hits
for the afternoon.
Siebert(2-1) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 4 runs. John
Hiller(0-1) was hit with the loss. 'I had my good stuff today.' Siebert
said. 'As the game went along I started to get the feeling that I was going
to strike out a bunch of hitters.'

Tony Oliva touched them all and had 2 RBI as the Minnesota Twins outscored the
Chicago (AL) White Sox 5 to 0.
Minnesota jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating 2 runs on 2
hits. Ted Uhlaender led off and he slapped a one-base hit. After an out was
recorded, Oliva stepped up to the plate and he smashed a two-run homer. That
was all the runs Jim Perry(3-1) needed. The pitchers took over after the 4th
inning as neither team was able to score again.
Paul Edmondson(1-2) absorbed the loss. He pitched 6 innings giving up 5 hits
and no walks.

Dave McNally pitched a 3 hit shutout at Memorial Stadium as the Baltimore
Orioles beat the New York (AL) Yankees 4 to 0.
McNally(4-0) escaped virtually unscathed against the New York (AL) hitters.
He allowed only 3 hits and no walks in 9 innings. McNally mowed down 11 New
York (AL) batters lowering his ERA from 1.75 to 1.30. After the 4th inning,
neither team was able to score.
Stan Bahnsen(0-2) was the losing pitcher. 'I thought it was my best
performance in a long time,' said McNally. 'I had good command early in the
game. I had my control and composure and everything went well.'

Left fielder Frank Howard homered as the sizzling Washington Senators defeated
the Cleveland Indians by a score of 8 to 6 at Municipal Stadium.

hits. They ended up being the winning runs. Although they lost, Cleveland
did out-hit Washington 13 to 7.
The winning pitcher was Dick Bosman(3-2) who allowed 6 runs in 7 innings.

Tiant(0-4) ended up with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 7
