Blue Moon Odom pitched a complete game as the Oakland Athletics defeated the
Minnesota Twins 5 to 3 at Metropolitan Stadium.

provided by Rick Monday who deflated the crowd as he rifled a three-run
blast. Oakland and Minnesota each finished the afternoon with 7 hits.

First baseman Mike Epstein cracked 2 homeruns at Fenway Park as the Washington
Senators beat the Boston Red Sox in 10 innings by the count of 7 to 5.
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Washington won the game in the
10th inning. Ken McMullen led off and started the rally when he ripped a
base-knock. Bernie Allen came to the plate and drew a walk. Ed Brinkman
then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Paul Casanova followed next and he stroked
a single plating two runs. Washington finished with 12 hits while Boston
ended up with 8.
Dennis Higgins(1-1) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Ray
Culp(0-4) absorbed the loss. He gave up 7 runs in 9 innings and saw his ERA
jump from 3.52 to 4.50.

outscored the Detroit Tigers 4 to 1.
