Baltimore promptly took the lead in their half of the first plating one baserunner utilizing 2 base hits. Don Buford ripped a single. Buford stole second with some aggressive base running. After an out was recorded, Boog Powell then doubled scoring the run. Baltimore simply wore out the Boston pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
