Lee Stange had a complete game as the Boston Red Sox bested the Baltimore
Orioles 5 to 4 at Fenway Park.
Stange(1-0) had a solid outing for Boston. He went 9 innings and surrended up
8 hits and 5 walks seeing his ERA drop from 4.50 to 4.09. Boston finished
with 10 hits in the victory.
Tom Phoebus(0-1) took the loss. 'I always am most impressed when a pitcher
finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Dick Williams said after the
game. 'Stange did not have command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but
he proved he really knew how to pitch!'

Carlos May blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Chicago (AL) White Sox
defeated the California Angels 6 to 2 at Anaheim Stadium.

It was a great finish at Jarry Park as the Montreal Expos pulled off a
dramatic comeback beating the St. Louis Cardinals by the count of 7 to
6.
Montreal had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning as they
scored 4 runs on 2 base hits. The biggest moment was provided by Kevin
Collins who brought the crowd to their feet when he laced a one-base hit
plating two runs. The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5
times.
The victory went to Dick Radatz(1-0) who went 1/3 of an inning, allowing no
runs. Mudcat Grant(0-1) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 4
walks in 1 and 2/3 innings.
