Dick Bosman had a strong outing at R.F.K. Stadium as the Washington Senators
beat the New York (AL) Yankees by the count of 3 to 2.
Washington had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs using 2
hits. After two outs Zoilo Versalles began the Washington spurt when he
ripped a base-hit. Frank Howard followed next and he clubbed a two-run home
run. Bosman(1-0) was helped out by Darold Knowles who pitched a perfect
ninth and recorded his 1st save.

In a thriller the Los Angeles Dodgers staged a dramatic comeback then held on
to win over the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 3 to 2 at Crosley Field.
Los Angeles won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 2
hits. Wes Parker started the inning off right when he reached on an error.
Bill Sudakis stepped into the batter's box and he stroked a single, and an
error was also committed. After an out was recorded, Ted Sizemore then lined
a base-hit plating two runs. Both teams finished the game with 6 hits.
The victory went to Al McBean(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Wayne Granger(0-1) suffered the loss in relief. He was pinned with the
loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
Dave Bristol was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Walter Alston will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'

Clete Boyer had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Fulton Co. Stadium where the Atlanta
Braves beat the San Francisco Giants in 14 innings by the score of 3 to
2.
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Atlanta was victorious in the
14th inning. Hank Aaron ripped a one-base hit. Rico Carty was next to bat,
but he was a strikeout victim. Orlando Cepeda then delivered a base-hit.
Cepeda took second on the throw. Boyer was up next and he slapped a single
making Atlanta the winners and sending the 24,758 fans home happy. Atlanta
won despite being out-hit by San Francisco 14 hits to 11.
The victory was credited to Cecil Upshaw(1-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no
runs. Ron Kline(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.
